The acquisition process of a language is defined as the process by which a child passes through learning his mother tongue, the acquisition of language is considered one of the first great achievements of the human being in his individual development process. This process refers to the process of natural, intuitive, subconscious assimilation, the fruit of interaction in real situations of human conviviality in environments of the language and foreign culture, in which the learner participates as an active subject, not only related to the first language, but there can be a second language process of acquisition.

The learning process of a language is the act of studying and knowing more about a target language, focusing on its rules and specific aspects such as grammatical structures. This process emphasizes the use of written language more than spoken language, where mistakes are constantly corrected leaving no or little room for spontaneity. This kind of approach differs from language acquisition most of all because it does not require much interaction with the language.

Using Brasil as an example, this method can be seen in most schools that teach English as a foreign language, being most of the classes based on memorizing english terms and recognizing verb tenses.
